Queer Camp
July 22 - August 3

GFT’s Queer Youth Summer Camp is a tuition-free, devised performance centered program for LGBTQ+ youth ages 14 – 18 that focuses on building connections, skills training and the arts as social justice advocacy.  LGBTQ+ Austin teens will receive training and mentoring from professional local artists and educators to create an original performance that addresses the issues and challenges they face.

This intensive 2-week theatre arts camp will provide a safe and welcoming environment for youth to explore all aspects of live theatre production and current social issues important to them.  The goal of the program is to give local queer youth a creative outlet for self-expression, build and strengthen self-esteem, enhance language and communication skills and introduce the concept of arts as social activism.

Campers meet Mon - Fri 8:30am - 4:30pm at Ground Floor Theatre (979 Springdale Rd Ste 122) July 22 - Aug 2 and it all culminates in a public performance Aug 3 at 7:30pm on the GFT stage.

There are no pre-requisites to apply and no experience necessary! Applications are open through April 30. We are accepting a maximum of 20 campers.  15 will be chosen randomly and 5 will be chosen by a panel of local artists to ensure a diversity of experiences and backgrounds.

Feel free to share this email with any potential campers. You can email Patti@GroundFloorTheatre.org with any questions.
