We are an Austin Community-Owned theatre!

Beginning in 2004, Ground Floor Theatre has been a leader in Austin’s vibrant theatre community. Since our opening, we’ve stayed true to our mission by providing light and space for underrepresented communities, such as: LGBTQ, the differently-abled, and youth – individuals who often do not receive their chance to bask in the glow they deserve. If you agree with this mission, we invite you to be part of our community owned theatre in any way you can. Consider becoming a Sustaining Angel by making a monthly recurring contribution.

Every dollar has an impact!

Other Opportunities to Support

Please consider supporting GFT with a monthly or one-time gift to help keep our doors open for the next six months and beyond

Ground Floor Theatre presents original works by and for underrepresented voices, as well as critically acclaimed pieces, and need Production Sponsors to subsidize these costs. Be part of Austin's magic!

We are always on the lookout for ways to further involve the Austin community. If you can spare your time, services or be part of our efforts, click above to fill out a brief form. We'd love to get you involved

Capital Campaign

At the beginning of 2017, the city shut us down because of some permitting issues; among them was our audience risers (which we built ourselves) and our Tech Booth (which we built ourselves).  We now have a City of Austin grant to get our state of the art risers (installing in November), but we still need to rebuild our tech booth.  A generous anonymous donor will contribute $15,000 IF we can raise an additonal $15,000 in three months.  Won't you help us?  Too many venues have closed, and we will not stop until every voice is heard in our community.

New Technical Booth

Currently, our technical booth is positioned on the house floor and off to the side, which hinders the quality of sound and lighting needs. With our 2018 Capital Campaign, we will reposition the technical booth above the concessions and ticketing booth by constructing a floor and staircase for easy access. By having the technical crew and technology positioned above, the quality of sound and stage lighting will be superior for audience enjoyment.

Become a Production Sponsor

Production Sponsorship

Ground Floor Theatre’s productions are a vibrant element in the City of Austin’s standing as a cultural mecca for the performing arts, which in turn attracts notable new residents, heightened tourism, and economic development. Ground Floor Theatre presents original works by and for underrepresented voices, as well as critically acclaimed pieces, and need Production Sponsors to subsidize production costs.

Productions Sponsors are essential to the continued success of Ground Floor Theatre and keeping the voices of the Austin community alive. Production Sponsors, either exclusive or a consortium of co-sponsors, can include corporations, foundations, trusts, and individuals. Our sponsors enjoy massive fulfillment and the opportunity for recognition as well, be it through our marketing efforts or the exclusive pre- and post-performance events with the Ground Floor Theatre staff, board, and cast members.

Our marketing efforts can include, but are not limited to: playbill distributed to all audience members, production posters, our website, and advertising throughout Austin’s many print and online publications. Our audience members, donors, and community individuals seek out organizations that invest in Austin’s cultural vibrancy. The eclectic art and performances that exist are the fundamental foundation to Austin’s tourism and attraction.

When the arts flourish, so does our city and the economy.
